Excellent suspension and lightweight build.

Paint chips easily if you’re not careful.

I bought this bike after reading a bunch of reviews and I'm not disappointed. The suspension is great, really soaks up the rough stuff. It's lighter than my old Scott Spark, which helps on the climbs. Only thing is the paint seems to chip pretty easy, so you have to be careful. Gears and brakes are smooth, no complaints there. The frame geometry feels just right for XC racing. I like the way it accelerates out of corners. Not the cheapest bike, but the performance is worth it. Would recommend to anyone looking to upgrade.

Great geometry and super efficient pedaling.

Assembly instructions could be better.

Bought the Scalpel after my old bike finally gave up. The geometry is spot on for XC, feels really efficient when pedaling. It’s lighter than my previous Merida, and the suspension is way better. Only thing I didn’t like was the assembly instructions, took me a while to get everything set up right. Once it was ready, though, it rides awesome. Brakes and gears are smooth, and the frame feels solid. I’ve done a few races already and it’s performed great. Would recommend for anyone looking to step up their game.
